Chocorua Lake - Tamworth, NH

Placed on the edge of the White Mountains, this lake is nothing short of stunning. This lake just tells me that I need to get north more often. On my visit the lake was reasonably quite. It is a very shallow lake and due to its geographic position it is typically very calm water. A little bit of noise from Rt 16 running close by, but it doesn't take long to get away from that. Overall, we found it incredibly relaxing. The view of Mount Chocorua to the north is simply stunning. If you go to the north there is a little inlet that was fun to putter around in. While the whole lake and its shimmering clear water is beautiful, the real gem is the far south. Pass under the bridge and you get to a more bog section of the lake. The plant life and the view from here are mesmerizing. Careful in this area, I startled (well he startled me) a water snake. I'm not a snake expert, but I'm guessing not something you want to cuddle with.
